If things go as planned I will be building one next year. Have a question. Can you fit golf clubs in the trunk.

no clubs in the trunk but they do fit nicely in the passenger seat. took mine from SF to S. lake tahoe last year.
Just a thought... A lot of sports cars in the sixties (e.g. MGB) had luggage racks on the trunk lid. You could install one of those. When you build your own car, anything's possible!

I used to fit my clubs in the trunk no problem. On a diagonal, had to ditch the driver, and I have one of those soft sided bags that has the built in kickstands. No way you could fit a rigid bottomed bag in the trunk though.

After a really bad day on the links, they may fit better: especially the U shaped ones! Couldn't resist. WEK.

haha. that would make it easier.
yeah, I would just put the tops of the clubs up in the front passenger corner and then the flexible bottom of the bag would swing over and squeeze just a bit to fit under the body in the opposite back corner. The length of your clubs could obviously make this more difficult. As I said, I usually ditched my driver to make it easier (and simultaneously better my score, conveniently enough). I'm 5'10" so if you are taller with longer clubs it will obviously be tougher.

Wow - can you post a few photo's. I can't see how to fit a set of clubs in the trunk (even without the driver). Perhaps in the Passenger seat but I would not want to leave the roadster unattended for 4-5 hr's while on the course.

You could also take a cue from a lot of standard cars and have a pass through panel in the cockpit between the seats. You could only gain maybe 4-5 inches before they were hitting the back of your arm while shifting but that might be enough.

Could be more challenging in an MK4 with the smaller trunk height. I know it's a little tricky to fit 2 folding chairs in my MK4.

My advice; when you finish the car give up golf and start doing track days and aurocross. You'll havebe more fun and no club transportation issues ;)

Jeff-
You might be on to something there! It might be a lot less frustrating as well, and I would spend a lot less time in the woods (at least I hope that would be the case).
Something for me to think about...

Sorry. Can't take a photo since I sold the car in the spring to make room for an 818. Just look at the inside of the trunk at the 2 opposite corners and measure diagonal (ignore the body, this is aluminum to aluminum measurement). I was under the impression the only difference on the mk4 was the trunk itself and that the body in that area is the same. Since the body line between the trunk and body is the low point, I don't think the reduced trunk height in the center creates an issue. (That all goes out the window if my base assumption is wrong, of course.)

Well - I just removed all of my clubs from my golf bag and managed to fit a full set of new Taylor Made clubs into the trunk including the drivers (with club covers) - no problems. They fit diagonally.
Soooooo - I was wrong - and I now need to find a soft sided collapsible bag that will fit.
Now to address parking

I know its not the best solution for you, but since I want to be able to golf while riding in bike this is what I'm going to buy.

Very compact and I can take them in my bike or a small trunk.
