Since Dark Water Customs is no longer accepting orders, I'm looking for another source for a way to put rear view mirror at the top of the windshield frame instead of a dash mount...anyone ??

I made one from a piece of 1/8-3/16in" thick aluminum. The trickiest part is modifying two small bolts into two flat sides to prevent them from turning in the groove at the top of the windshield when tightened up. The appropriate bolts (maybe small carriage type) and a bit of filing will make it work. I didn't bend an angle into my bracket as the mirror has enough movement to adjust it properly. Works fine and no vibration. Polish as you see fit.

Thanks for the tip...I'll give that a shot... if its clever enough I'll post a picture. But then again, I've never really been clever.

I solicited some input from the other forum, then fabricated my bracket.
I was very pleased with the results and it looks and works great. (did take a little time to fine tune the bolt lengths and file down the nuts a bit)

I bought a mirror from All Sales Manufacturing (allsalesmfg.com) for $100 that does a good job. It mounts to the top of the windshield with super-sticky glue, and it much better and bigger than the mirror supplied by FF. The part number is 97394P. The pictures show how this looks. I had to modify the joint between the mirror and the mount to enable setting at the right angle. To do this I just filed away part of the housing that the ball on the back of the mirror mounts to. 3290032901

I have the Dark Water clamp for mounting on top of windshield and am pleased with it. Regardless what type of clamp you use, be careful not to clamp the mirror too tight. I felt mine was fine, but last night the mirror cracked when i tried to adjust it. FFR does not provide a heavy duty mirror with the kit. Functional, but pretty lightweight.
