View Full Version : Where do you wish you had extra vibration dampening?

So, I began installing the Second Skin damplifier pro that I got with their roadster kit and I've already laid down the first layer. I've covered the entire cockpit (almost) and the entire trunk and I've got a ton of the stuff left.

Is there any place I should double up on the stuff? Apparently a second layer triples the effectiveness. So, are there any spots that you wish had more vibration dampening?

I'm thinking the floors would be a good place. What about the body?

Hi Bren,

JMPO: I doubled the firewall, the floor, and the back cockpit area below the trunk level. Also, the small area between you and the side pipe and put one layer on bottom side of truck aluminum . Haven't don't the doors but thinking about it. The side pipes are definitely the worst offender especially above 4k rpm. I do believe that the noise you hear is from different sources and different directions not just homogenous. So naturally, it follows that each source of the noise reduction (and damping), will effectively reduce your sensory overload. I also added a second and third layer of dissimilar materials used in flooring and carpeting to help "confuse" the offending waves coming thru the aluminum panels. I don't have scientific data to back up positive results but I do think it helps (about 2000 miles). I am going to do some side by side comparisons of another type with a MKIII roadster friend. At that time, we should be able to at least get some estimates of the differences of our projects regarding this. I know he only has minimal insulation on his interior. If his is just as quiet as mine you will probably see this face: :confused::confused: or this one :mad::mad:. Hope it works for you,

Note: forgot top of transmission tunnel underneath.
