Hey guys,

I have a question for you. I want to buy the Billet Specialties Tru Trac Serpentine System for my 427 build. They have the alternator on the drivers side and the power steering on the passenger side, but from all of the pictures I've seen on here and it seems like everyone has it on the oposite sides. I guess it really doesn't matter. Does it?

You'll need longer PS hoses to reach the rack fittings. And I think the side reservoir fitting faces the DS, so the fitting may be more difficult on the PS, with the fitting facing the block.

If they don't have a setup with the PS on the left side, I'd nix it. You don't need those complications in your build. The PS location I have with the Forte mount down low is perfect. It accommodates the hose routing as simply as it gets. You know the KISS principle.

Good luck,

WEK.

Something else to consider is clearance from the steering shaft. Some PS setups with the pump on the DS have to account for this. Depending on the position, an alternator on the DS could be an issue. Depends on the pump, but often alternators are larger than a PS pump.

Yeah, I kind of figured that it would be a pain trying to route the hoses with the pump on that side. Paul, the alternator is actually placed high on the engine, so that wouldn't be an issue. I just really like the system, because it replaces the timing cover with their own cover. Very clean and neat and "shiny".

Nice look indeed. Consider the March performance style track setup.
We use them almost exclusively. Keeps PS on drivers side. www.fordcobraengines.com

That is the same system I have and there isn’t an issue with the fitting pointing the wrong direction. I don’t see any issues with running the PS hoses. I plan on mounting the Bullet Specialties PS tank on the passenger side top frame rail which will make an easy hookup from the tank to the pump and steering rack. I purchased this system because it seems to be the most compact and in my opinion one of the best looking systems I looked at. I have some pictures of this system mounted on a mockup block sitting in my type 65 if you are interested. BLOMENICK@DELTATAU.COM

E.F., I looked at the March systems and I just don't like the looks of them.
Thanks Bill. Email sent.

The Coyotes have the PS pump on the passenger side and connections aren't an issue. I'd say just about any place would work as long as the steering shaft clears.

Thanks 2bking. Bill sent me a picture of his set up. I'm going to order it. What ps pump did you use for your car?

My pump is the GM pump with remote reservoir that came with the TurnKey assembly. The TurnKey stuff had a lot of bling but poor engineering. I kept all the parts and rebuilt the mounting scheme. You can read my build thread for the problems associated with TurnKey.

You could save yourself $1790.00 and use CFR performance pulleys.
Maybe they are note quite as pretty, but a big ol' stack of 20s left over looks pretty sweet.

Before I started my project one of the first goals I set was to build it the way I wanted it and if I couldn’t afford something I wanted I would save up until I could afford it. If I wanted to enjoy looking at a big ol' stack of 20s I wouldn’t have started this project in the first place. When I open the hood I want to see what I have dreamed about for years not a big ol' stack of 20s.

Direct hit, you got me. But in my defense, I am building with the Coyote and only found a couple option for adding PS. I know a lot more now than then and at that time it seemed like a good decision. Using the TurnKey solution was a bad decision.
