Just wondering how you all wash the underside of your car. Do you lift it up? Do you have a special wash brush?

Hey, somebody answer the man's question. I also want to know. ;)

I pressure wash mine from above in the engine bay and as much as possible underneath while it's on the ground. Then I put it on the lift (not blasphemy intended: Thank you, God!) I use 409 and a sponge. then I go over the whole area with a rag and dilute dish detergent. I don't have a great paint job on the top side but I try to keep it as clean as possible on the underside. I've found that more frequent touch ups works better than waiting 'til it accumulates. This is the cleanest hot rod I've ever had so even though I don't like the cleaning thing, I still do it. It also makes it cleaner to work and do maintenance when I'm under there. You can also see telltale drips or runs from a leak if you have one when it's cleaner. Some people say it's good preventive maintenance as you will catch things early if something is going wrong. Could be. Good luck,

Ok, I have never washed the underside of the car. Heck, the upperside only 3 or 4 times in the past 14 years.

I put it up on tall stands and roll under for a nut & bolt and lube a couple times a year. When I finish I grab a few rags and bottle of detail spray. Frame is powdercoated and the underside of aluminum is raw so dirt and road grime wipe away easily.

Windex and a micro fiber towel for the underside and engine bay area. Works great.

I have never washed the underside of the roadster (probably because I live in California) and only have washed the topside maybe twice since 2003.

When I drove my car from the painter's in April, i ran through a bunch of snow/salt road crap on the way home (couldn't avoid it).
Then a week later, I got caught in some rain (not too bad, but ugly none the less).

A couple days after that, I took it to the car wash and hit the underside with the power sprayer and the engine bay (on low pressure).
Then I went home, put it up on stands and crawled under it and wiped it down with Simple Green.

I WISH I had a lift! that would be NICE!

...and wiped it down with Simple Green.

Be careful using Simple Green on powder coat Mark. I love the stuff but it WILL cut the gloss off of the chassis PC if used full strength; 50/50 with water is OK.

I've been using this Honda motorcycle cleaner and polish. Removes oil film, grease and road grime better than others I've tried. Works on powdercoat, aluminium, paint chrome without damage.
