Hello - Been looking on and off at FFR for a few years, getting closer to actually pulling the trigger on a 33. Need to convince myself I can build it, and need to convince my wife I should....

Will be looking around, learning what I can.

Welcome. It is certainly doable and you will find a lot of good info here.

Jim,

Welcome to the group, and good luck with your info search! Until April 2013 I was in the same position as you for a few years, then I did pull the trigger on a '33 complete kit! Not sure what part of NJ you're in, but if you're near the Philly area, I'm just west of the city in Villanova. If you're willing to take a drive, I'd be happy to show you my build and what it's taken to get this far (e.g. mechanical know-how (or lack thereof), specialized tools, hidden costs, etc.). All in all, I think you'll surprise yourself at what you can accomplish with such a build if you take your time and follow the steps in the build manuals. If you're ever really unsure about something, there are so many places to turn for help (this forum, FFR directly, etc.).

Let me know if you're interested in taking a look. I am currently at the "go cart" stage... That is, chassis is essentially complete (suspension, running gear, electrical), engine/trans are installed and running, main body is mounted and I'm just at the point of fitting the doors. Car is drivable (albeit for 1/4 mile to the culdasac and back, while avoiding detection!)
