Mk4 with mid shifter _ any mods required?

Can anyone tell me if I will need to modify the chassis tubes to accommodate a TKO-600 with mid-shift option?

I vaguely remember seeing someone's comment about this.

If I do have to mod my powder coated chassis what do you guys do about the treating the bare metal? Localised black hammerite?

Some cars I've built did not need anything changed. Others needed a tube removed.
You can reweld the tube in a better location, but I just leave it out. Keep in mind the older kits had no steel in the tunnel at all. Just cover the bare steel with POR15 or similar.

Check out my build thread, post 42 to see the mod required. It's very quick if you leave the tube attached at the front end and V notch it. Then trim the lower end and bend it at the notch and weld all seams. I just needed the lower end moved forward about an inch. Most recommend not removing the tube as it provides stiffness in the tunnel structure.
