According to build manual I'm supposed to put the bulb seal on the outside edge of the elephant ear and trim if necessary.... i almost need more elepant ear especially towards lower half of the inner fender, close to the slotted vents.....and with the body bolted one on front and rear it kinda looks comfortable where it fits...the body roll under the frame is almost to the middle of the frame ... any one retentive enough to have pictures of how their panel fits ??..

I just finished installing the front splash guards on my Mk4 build this past weekend, so snapped these pics this AM. Both the front and rear splash guards (aka elephant ears) were a pain on my Mk3 build. The Mk4 was better, but still a little fiddly to find the best locations. Both front and rear required some trimming, at least for me. Way better than the Mk3 where I had to toss the rears and make all new because they were just too small. Anyway, here's where my fronts ended up. They fit pretty well except had to trim back at the bottom so they could be pushed back and fill along the upper side and top. I had previously installed nutserts in the F panels, so they're held in place with 10-32 flange button heads. Did the same for the rears. Easy to take in/out for body install/removal, service, etc. Hope these pictures help.

Driver side. Note I had to make a hole for the master cylinder. With the hydroboost it's pretty long and required just a bit of clearance.

At this stage ( I am guessing a bit here) I wouldn't worry about the ears fit too much. How do the doors fit relative to the body? There have been quite a few posts about needing to slot the holes where the body bolts to the underside of the rocker are square tubes. This was an effort to get the body and the doors closer to the same plane. The door fit is much more important so, if that hasn't been done yet, work there and come back to the ears later.

Thanks for checking in CraigS..like I told EdwardB I'm a little retentive and spend/waste more time worrying bout how even things should be...(the engine being 3/4" off center really thru me) but yes, doors are hung, passenger side wasn't bad driver side is gonna need more work. Like you guys have said...I'm just gonna install for now and worry about final fitment after paint. Have decided to drive as is and worry about paint later.

Excellent idea. there will be a bunch of little things you want to do as the miles build. Some of them are a lot easier w/ the body off. But even if you don't pull it again, it's nice to be able to drive w/o worrying about the paint.
