View Full Version : Curious: any new updates to Mk4 from FFR since released in 2010?

I have an early Mk4 (2011) and just wondering if FFR has made any additional updates / improvements to the Mk4 since its release in 2010.

I know FFR now supplies SPC Performance A-arms vs the older design FFR UCA's that came with early production Mk4's but not sure if other changes or improvements have been made.

I also read somewhere that the hood scoop is no longer fiberglass (?).

Just curious: if improvements have been made I would consider adopting if the change is a bolt on part.

Thx

Matt

2 things I can think of:
They stopped providing the drop trunk before mine was delivered in April 2011.
And started including the DS access panel on top of the footbox.

I can't think of anything of earthshaking significance. You guys have mentioned most of what comes to mind for me; changed UCA vendors, reconfigured the trunk framing and tin, added FB top access panel and now have a plastic scoop rather than the unfinished and non-symmetrical fiberglass one. A couple of others; they changed the roll bar stubs so that the bars go over rather than inside and did away with the bolt in PS side leg. Oh, they now supply both left and right windshield bezels so you no longer have to install one of them "upside down"!

Didn't realize that, may have to pick up a corrected set.

Oh, didn't they upgrade a batch of ball-joint covers? Mine fell apart within a couple thousand miles.
And an IRS shaft length error was corrected.

MPTech / Jeff - Thx

I think my Roadster has all of these with the exception of the new UCA's (recently added these), the plastic hood scoop (I am good with the fiberglass version - looks great), and the FB access panel (I fabricated my own access panels). I would have preferred the earlier drop trunk version (too late now - although it is never too late).

Agreed, no earth shattering changes / additions - FFR must be happy and they have it where they want - I know I am - plan on adding the new soft top and the Lucas head lights at some point

If you think of anything else, please add to the post.

Thx

Are you inquiring about general mods now? Let me take a look, I posted my list on FFcars.
I think the MK4 is a great car without any mods, but there is always room for improvements and personal touches.
How far is your build progress and what engine, trans, rear-end are you running?

I am enquiring as a curiosity to insure there have been no major upgrades/mods to the Mk4 since production started back in 2010. I received my kit mid 2011 - build complete 2013 (icon photo is my car). FFR usually has running changes/improvements during the life of any model produced.

Engine - Coyote with cats (build as per FFR's initial Coyote Roadster install using the same parts list & drive train)
trans - Tko 600
3 link - Moser
Manual Steering, Manual brakes (13 inch) - upgraded coil overs
power coated all bare metal parts and aluminum panels (aluminum color powder coat)
every stainless upgrade possible
KoolMat entire cockpit, then covered by hushMat , then carpet - cockpit is very solid, dead quiet and cool
many aftermarket and custom mods
