View Full Version : Coyote Oil Dipstick question - Does it read correct with the shallow oil pan required

Hi guys, This spring I noticed a small leak coming from my oil pan plug. Not a big deal, and I suspected that the gasket on the plug probably just dried out over the winter. However, due to a question from a friend, I got to wondering if the factory dipstick in the Coyote still reads accurately with the shallower oil pan that is required when using this engine in the MKIV. (the thought being that perhaps even though the dipstick is reading that the oil level is correct, that I might have too much oil, thus too much pressure and actually forcing the oil out the plug). Again, the leak is very minor, and I plan to change oil and replace the plug in the next couple of weeks, but wanted to get thoughts on this. If it is the problem, I'd like to fix it while I have the car up, oil out, and can remove the oil pan if I have to drill anything to more accurately accommodate the coyote dipstick. Any thoughts or comments?

I should have dug a little deeper first. Found a big write up on the other forum directly related to this topic. Long and short is that Moroso will provide a replacement Oil Pan Baffle to anyone who purchased one of these pans. This replacement has clearence in the baffle to allow the factory dipstick to read accurately.

OK, that answers the question re the Moroso pan, but what about the Champs pan?

The Champs pan already has the relief in the windage tray for the stock dip stick. No issues with that pan.

Great. Thanks, Kevin. Wrestling with the windshield today; have to trim out a quadrant of the quick-release body trim pieces (like the FFR trim pieces); as one solid piece they won't let the windshield drop all the way to the body.
