New guy here so don't beat me up too bad. I'm starting to look into one of these roadsters and being an old GM guy was wondering if many or any of these roadsters have GM LS engines installed???

Thank you, Larry.

It's been done. I have a 454 LSX crate engine for mine. Looks like a pretty straight forward modification to the FFR kit.

I've got a 502 that I'm thinking of dropping in (but I still need to drop the money on the car itself) and everybody's been pretty encouraging that it can be done. Mike Forte says that he's got some conversion parts needed so it doesn't sound tooooo difficult. Good luck.

Lately I've been getting to bed when I see the dark disappearing. I remember a time when there was a little orange in your blue blood. You shouldn't run from what you where :)

I really like the Chevy engines and the new crate LS looks great, but the only downside I can see is that everyone says it hurts resale on these (in fact they assume $0 value for the motor, you're better of pulling it and selling it seperately, as it will probably be replaced). As I said, I like 'em, just something to consider.
Now putting that engine in a FFR HotRod would be better!

For resale value I would purchase a running titled FFR or put effort into a muscle car. I haven't seen any bow tie powered roadsters for sale recently but if the ROI is less then the typical 5.0 powered car, it would hurt to have to sell one.

Ah, the Ford vs. Chevy, darkside / come to the light debate!

We all will have our own reasons for doing what we did.

I happen to think that God himself directed AC's body designers when they built the Ace and others. When I started this journey, I decided to build what I wanted without outside influence. When I closed my eyes, I saw (and still see) an FFR Roadster with an old school Chevy powerplant. ...and that's just me.

These are tube frame race cars / component cars that loosely resemble an AC Ace. They're not Fords or any 60's race car restorations.

My advice? If you want a car to sell, you might consider Ford.

If you want something to drive and keep, close your eyes and visualize exactly what you want. Then, open your eyes and build it!

Solid advice right there...

Kerry I am still partial to the 'orange' and I think the LS is a great platform. As far as resale goes 99/100 would think it was a Ford if it had Ford on the valve covers :p

The resale part is a bit suprising to me. I can see a Windsor motor with the Webers or a 427/428 having a resale advantage, but why would a 4.6 hold more value than a LSx?

It's only got value if your A)willing to sell, and B)can find a buyer. :D

Mike, Have you seen the front drive distributor housing for the LS engines? It uses a SBF distributor. That with a hi-rise and blue valve covers with PBF emblems would mess with a lot of "experts". I seriously considered doing that to the LSX.

Yep I saw the front drive, it looks really good. If you told people that it was a NASCAR small block Ford they would buy it without question. I think that's perfect for your 427 and would really mess with the 'experts'.

Yep there's a few of us that have done it.. :)

And ditto on what Randy said about resale. That part is up to you.
