" engineering team is going full speed ahead with new parts and options for the newest Factory Five."

Just read the email news update from ffr and saw this. Plus another 818r with higher performance components! Any idea what these new parts and options will be? I know the wiper kit will be one option, but the parts comment and the "s" in options are exciting.

I picked up my kit Saturday and they were working on a new carpet set t go with the new fuel tank for more leg room. They didn't have any dates for release and sent me home with the hot rod tank.

I heard that they are working on a trunk. Also padded dash and door panels.

Man, you guys are making a crappy day turn into a great one. This almost makes me glad that I'm waiting so long to get my project started! And that's good that they'll be incorporating STI trannies, hopefully it will be easier to get donors now.

After spending 5 hours at the airport only to have a measly hurricane ruin my plans and spend 27 bucks coming home...thanks :D

I kind of wish they would work on fixing the stuff that isn't correct before they start making new stuff...How about no kidding paint free panels in more than 1 color?

Sorry to hear about the weather.

Unfortunately that wouldn't make getting a donor easier. The major donor incompatibility lies in the wheel hubs. Plus most STI transmissions are pretty expensive because all the WRX owners want them. ...but that opens up a huge advantage and the extra cost might even out, because the STI transmission does come with a front LSD which, by itself, would run you around $1,000 to buy.

Definitely the padded door panels. I think I added that to my kit order already, they just haven't updated the parts website. I wish that would keep up to date, but beggars can't be choosers.

I'm happy with the quality. The dash was damaged in shipping and I haven't received a replacement yet, so it wouldn't be fair to judge it, but here's a door panel:

Here's a picture of the edge:

I haven't tried to put together the body yet, so I can't say how it fits yet.

Thanks for the knowledge! The first drop in the bucket I'll need. That's good to know about the LSD, and that I can use STI parts except for wheel hubs. I will look for the thread that I'm sure exists regarding STI parts in an 818...
