I think I have a air leak into the supply line from the tank to the fuel pump. I can get on it, it runs out of fuel and recovers. I don't like the quick connects supplied with the kit. Everything else is tight. I'm thinking of just going with clamps. I'm using a standard mechanical pump, small block carb. Thoughts?

What kind of carb? I'm thinking your butterflies on the four barrel are opening too quickly.

When you say "it runs out of fuel", what exactly do you mean? Do you have a fuel pressure gauge and it is dropping to zero or ? Or is it "bogging" and then picking up again (as Riptide suggests)?

I accelerate, first is fine. Second is fine. I pull back in the driveway and it wants to stall. I checked the floats, 680 quick fuel, and it's low. It clears up after running at idle. The lines coming from the fuel tank are, correct me if I'm wrong, are quick connects that are used with a electric fuel pump system. I have suction on that line with a mechanical pump instead of a pressurized system with a electrical pump. So I'm thinking it's sucking air into the mechanical pump from these fittings.

I am not sure about the quick connects you are referring to...using an external electric fuel pump with a carb set-up. If the the fittings are leaking, I would think that your pump would lose prime and not recover as you describe. Assuming that you have a new/proven fuel pump...if so perhaps the fittings are creating a restriction/pressure drop to the pump reducing the ability of the pump to supply adequate volume. Same could be happening if there is a restriction between the pump and carb. I would monitor fuel pressure (at least temporarily)...I am guessing that under load, you have little to no fuel pressure/volume being delivered to the carb. Bypass the noted fittings and see if things improve.

The quick dis-connects are standard Ford fittings. Could br the fuel filter is partially plugged. If you are using an older tank, it's possible debris has been dislodged in the tank and has made it into the filter and causing a restriction.
