My first attempt to start the beast.
About 1:20 into the video you can hear a bang as I adjust the distributor. Sounded like engine backfire. Makes me think perhaps I have the spark plug wires out of sync or something.
Mission abort after this video as I noticed fuel leaking just forward of the fuel filter. I found that it was just a loose fuel fitting and tightened it back up.
Definately getting fuel. I will try an engine visual sparker test as well. Will retry again tomorrow.

Bring the engine to top dead center and pull the distributor cap and be sure the pointer is at number one.

jakester,
You have EFI so I would advise that if the engine does not fire off in the first 2 to 3 cranks, it probably isn't going to start so I would minimize the cranking. If you didn't pre oil your bearings with a drill to manually fill the galleries, lifters, etc with oil before starting, it could cause premature bearing wear. Also, It appeared in the video that your distributor was loose as you tried cranking it. I would at least snug it so it is possible to move it with your hand but with some difficulty. X2 on the checking the rotor button location (so easy to be off one). Good luck on your second attempt! WEK.

That "BANG!" that got your attention when you rotated the distributor was because the ignition was still on and when you rotated it you brought the reluctor across the pickup and fired a plug in a cylinder with some residual fuel. Long story short, that tells you that you've got fuel and ignition. Now you just have to get them occurring at the right time. Double check your firing order (make sure you are using the 5.0 H.O. order and not the 302 order), set #1 to TDC on the compression stroke and point the rotor at #1 on the cap and it should light!
Good luck,
Jeff

Jeff, this is the order I used and followed your and other advise by finding TDC and ensuring the distributor ran under plug 1 at that position It Works! The beast is alive.
Anyway, this is the order I used:
