I want to run 17x9 inch wheels on a MK4 using donor 1996 live axle with ABS and the rear horizontal Quad shocks with FFR lower control arms front and rear, and FFR coil-overs all around?

For 94-98 rear ends the FFR MK4 manual says to “use two (4) 9” wide, 5.95” backspace wheels in the front and the rear”.
For 94-98 rear ends the FFR MK3 manual says to “use two (2) 9” wide, 5.95” backspace wheels in the front and two (2) 9” wide, 6.72” backspace wheels in the rear” .

Since the body, especially the rear was changed on the MK4, does this mean that I can use the Halibrand wheels from FFR which are 17x9 with 6.00” backspace (#14862) on my MK4 but someone else could not use them on a MK3?

I found my answer and it is "Yes".

With my setup the Halibrand wheels from FFR will work on a Mk4 but not on a Mk3.

I ordered the FFR Halibrand wheels.
