I haven't posted an update on my build in quite a while, but I've been pretty busy working through the numerous punch-list items before installing the body for the final time. Like they say, it's the last 10% that takes 90% of the time.

Anyway, one of my recent projects has been to finish-off the interior panels and get ready for carpet. I'm having a number of the carpet panels bound along the edges, so I need to get the fit right before dropping them off at the upholsterer. So, before I did that, I needed to get the floors all situated, which included the final riveting, seam sealing, and installation of Dynamat and insulation.

Thanks to whoever it was that gave the heads-up on the one-day sale at Summit on the large 36 sq. ft. package of Dynamat a while back - I've had that sitting on my shelf waiting for this part of the project. I did a pretty thorough covering of Dynamat on the foot boxes, rear bulkhead, and trans tunnel, but only applied small pieces of it on selected other areas (except for a full single sheet on the main floor of the trunk). It's really easy to cut and apply, but make templates first so you don't have much scrap. I used all nine sheets in the kit with very little in the way of unusuable scraps.

Next I covered everything with 3/8" felt insulation that has a re-inforced foil backing. This, too, is best done using templates - the pre-cut FFR carpet works for most of the interior and I made templates for the trunk as I'm carpeting that, also. I glued this down using 3M spray adhesive - a version that is made for insulation and headliners (part no. 08088), which tacks-up really nice and has good heat and moisture resistance.

The lower portion of the trunk will not have any insulation as the carpet will have snaps on it so that it's removeable for access to the fuel pick-up, fuel sender, and the Darkwater Customs trunk bin.

I'm almost finished with cutting and fitting the trunk carpet, then all of the pieces needing edge binding will go to the upholsterer in the next week. On to a few final mechanical things and I should be ready to put the body on in the next few weeks.

Nice job. I'm using the Dynamat Extreme as well and find it easy to work with. You will definitely need more than the 36 sq ft to cover the cockpit fully. I'm covering all the gaps and will need to buy a little extra. I'm wondering if anything needs to be done in the trunk? Will it make a difference? I also put the Dynamat on the backside of the firewall as I read a lot of advice on that part.

On your dashboard - very nice! I see you screwed it on already. How did you find the proper spot to secure it with the body off?

I did lots of test-fits with the body on, first. In fact, the since I did the bodywork myself, the body was on-and-off at least a half-dozen times... probably more.
