I've got a T-56 six speed 27 spline from an 03-04 cobra...anyone else running this trans. Looking for any type of input as far as figment or how much you love it!

I believe the T56 is too long to use in a solid axle car as it makes the drive shaft too short. Please put some car specs and location in you signature line so we know what you are building. IE: if you are going IRS my initial comment doesn't apply.

I used a T56 from a 2002 WS6 TA. It is bolted to my LS1 and works great in my Daytona with a 3-link. It takes a little getting used to. I am using the bent shifter and the extra leverage makes it very easy to shift. While the trans is longer the bellhousing is a little more compact. The big issue is how far back the trans mount is. In the stock location the trans mount would have been over the top of the 4" cross tube. Because of this I moved my engine forward 3" from the stock position. It is hard to move the trans mount any further forward on the T56 as it has that large bulb full of gears in the rear that the TKO does not have.

Rick Harper has a T56 in his roadster over on FFcars. PM him and ask how he did it.

Here is a pic of it installed in my Coupe. The trans mount is directly below the forward shifter bolts.

IIRC the Smith guys who wrote the recent FFR build book also used a T56 or Magnum.

I in the process of putting a T-56 in my '33. I have had the same transmission in an upgraded '01 cobra mustang. No issues with fitment so far in the hotrod application.

Both the HR and the Coupe have longer wheel bases than the Roadster, so it's a little easier to put the longer trans in.

As CraigS alluded to, if you go with the IRS, it's easier since the rear isn't moving around on you.

I'll bet there is a way around it though, someone always finds a way to make things work on these cars. :)

Have fun.

Coyote/t56 solid axle here. I had a t56 in my single turbo 94 gt and loved it, but I did put a dual disc in the ffr for an easy pedal lol. Fit is great other than no room for park brake in original location. Modular sits farther forward than a pushrod, so driveshaft isn't really any shorter.
