I'm having trouble with the E-brake rubbing against the side of the tranny side aluminum, anyone else have this issue?

I had this issue on mine. I think I ended up doing a combination of opening up the holes on the frame to allow a little twist of the front of the handle away from the aluminum and "gentle" bending of the tab on the frame to get it to clear.

you may also consider this a good opportunity to reconsider some of the alternative mounting locations. detailed instructions and pictures are available on the "other" site. ffcars

The floor mount is totally worthless. You have to unbelt to use it. If you are in the building stage do a search for it mounted on the trans tunnel where you can get to it if needed.

I hear this comment a lot, and all I can say is not my experience for both of my builds. I'm very average size (5'10") and use the full harness, and I can reach the e-brake handle in the stock location just fine. I have the belts pretty tight, but not so much that I can't breathe or move. Maybe that's the difference. All I can say is try it first before you decide it's not reachable or worthless. No doubt the other locations are nice. I just personally never felt it was worth the effort, especially when I saw multiple instances where the Lokar handle (seems to be the most popular option) requires modification to get the necessary leverage. The Ford handle and cables are basically plug and play once you have the right parts.
To the OP, for both of my builds I did "adjust" the holds in the e-brake base and FFR mounting bracket to move the entire handle over a bit and over at the top. Just nibble away a little at the holes until you get the necessary clearance.

I went with the stock Mustang unit and cables like edwardb . A little adjustment and looks great. Simple and effective. I to am 5'10 and no problem reaching it. Don't really like the looks of something else on top of the console.
And like every other vehicle i've owned never hardly ever gets used.

I had the same issue and did what the others said and just made the holes bigger till I found an angle that worked. Oh and a little bending of the aluminum and I also turned my bolts the other way around because they were rubbing too.

I used the same solution as others have mentioned. Remember it is more of a "parking brake" than an "emergency brake".

Thanks for all the input fellas, I just filed away at the FFR bracket and flipped the bolts around worked just fine. Don't really see how flipping the bolts could hurt anything, since they get covered up by the boot.
