Question for anyone building an 818 using the 2005 2.5L NA engine:
Did you receive any replacement studs along with the massive dual port exhaust spacers that came with the kit? My spacers (two of them on each side) add a total of 1-1/8" spacing between the exhaust port and the exhaust manifold. The spacers are needed to ensure that the exhaust clears the bottom of the frame. Since the original studs are only about 1" long, they are far too short to accomodate the spacers and the flange on the manifold. Was something supposed to come with the kit, or do we have to source some extended metric (M10 X 1.25 I think) studs ourselves?

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but it would be great if you could throw up a couple pictures of the spacers and interference points. I must have glossed over that part of the manual.

Yes, I need to add pics. I'll do that tonight.

Cheers,

Dave

The first two shots are of the spacers that drop the exhaust b a full 1 1/8". The third pic is the header termination that does not clear the frame.

Thanks for posting the pictures.

Do you think there would be room between the engine and frame if a custom manifold were made? It would be great to get things above the plane of the frame is possible.

Hi Dave,

I have a set of these due any day:

Come in a pack of 10 and I only need 5. Not sure how many you need, or if they will be long enough, but you are welcome to them.

Cheers,

Steve

I would certainly appreciate a look at them. I may need even longer studs. The flange + spacers are 1.5 inches, so I'll need something 2 inches long I think.

I just checked the flange and spacers last night. the standard exhaust flange with the two huge spacers comes out to 1.5" long, so the 1.6" manifold bolts will not work. I'll need to find some 2" exhaust manifold bolts to fit.

Anyone else found a source for extra long m10 X 1.25 manifold bolts? my search has not been successful so far.

Joe at FFR let me know that they turfed the manifold studs on their NA engine setup and just used bolts instead. I'll try that solution next to see if it will work out.
