View Full Version : Clutch cable a bit too short...

I have a late gen I complete coupe kit. I installed the clutch cable today and it seems to me to be too short and sits on my headers. I tried multiple configurations. I need a couple (2-3) more inches to move it away from the headers. I have noticed that older kits with the pointed top driver foot boxes located the clutch cable closer to the engine which may have made the fit better than what I'm experiencing. Is there another option for a clutch cable?

Chris,

Our car in the show room has the cable routed closer to the engine and it travels under the motor mount. That should keep the cable away from the headers.

Is your car an early car with the Fox Body pedals? If so, that puts the cable on the engine side of the foot box and would increase the clearance. I solved the problem with a '94-'95 5.0 clutch cable. Both the outer casing and the cable are 3" longer and gives plenty of clearance.
