View Full Version : Trans, clutch, starter questions

I picked up GTM #71 of of Ebay about a year ago and have been doing the body first this time. But now it's time to start the chassis. I received the attached parts with the kit but I'm unsure if they will all fit together. I think the big aluminum piece is to adapt the LS1 to the 966 transaxle? The flywheel and the clutch fit together. But what do I need to get for the starter to have something to engage with? I'm not much of a wrench guy but does that friction disk look a little wimpy? Will that starter work on an LS1?

Depends upon the bolt manufacturer. Here's a generic spec...

And here is more specific info for an LS engine...

If you are using something after market, like ARP, they will have their own specs.

That's some great info for all the rest of the motor.
I first applied blue locktite and then torqued them to 15 lbs then to 37, then finally to 75 lbs.
