G'day Guys,

My name is Treeve and I'm currently living in New South Wales, Australia. Over here it's right hand drive only for cars manufactured after 1989, so that's what I'm thinking about. Whilst I can still get a donor mustang for just about everything for a Type 65, I still need to sort a steering rack, and I'm hoping someone can help me with some chassis info.

First up: Steering Racks. Please can someone point me in the direction of a RHD rack that would fit a mustang, or is equivalent to the standard mustang rack from a donor, but in RHD?

Second: Chassis. Is the chassis symmetrical - e.g. would I be able to swap from left to right without needing to change chassis bracing, the centre tunnel, footwells etc.

Engine and ancillary layouts is not such an issue, but having to completely modify the chassis would be a real pain. Not having a steering rack would be the worst though!

Thanks very much in advance,

Treeve

Gday Treeve
One thing you will need to consider is that the steering rack is located infront of the wheels not behind like our Falcon. Im building a Mk4 with power steering so I purchased a new rack from the FG Falcon. Had to fabricate new mounts for it.
Jethrow may chime in about manual racks?
With our emmissions you will need to think about what engine you are intending to use and just note that the Coupe doesnt accomodate a modular motor from FFR
I think like the Mk4 the Coupe engine is offset on the chassis but the chassis is symetrical apart from that.

You may want to inquire with FFR too what they can do. There are at least 2 coupes already there, and a few in England too.
My coupe came with a dash with the instruments on the right hand side so they can accomodate things.

G'day Guys,

I've made a few decisions.
1. power steering will be the way for me
2. I'm going to buy a new / off the shelf mustang rear axle - then I only need an aussie sourced falcon wreck for the engine and box. It's going to be a manual / T5 too.

Cheers,

Treeve
