i am fitting the drivers side aluminum where the coolant tubes and brake lines go through. the vertical piece shown in the picture below has a tab that looks like it should tie into the vertical tube on the front fire wall. mine sits back almost an inch.

here is a picture from in the car looking up at the drivers side corner

here is a picture from outside that shows the misalignment and the gap in the tab between the vertical tube and the tab.

has anyone had this issue? I remember back in my drafting days when a drawing was being circulated that said. cut and beat to fit at assy....... maybe this is the case here.

My upper triangle piece there seemed sized fine, but the bend to match up with the upper frame member wasn't very close. I remember having to play with that piece and the dead pedal piece to get it to line up "best" (not perfect) and shifted the pieces around to make it look and fit right. The only trimming I had to do was along the top of the tunnel the coolant line goes through. There was a 3/16" or so vertical piece sticking down that could have potentially worn through the coolant line. I trimmed there to remove the overhang and installed padding to prevent vibration noises. If you already secured the other pieces, your plan should take care of it.

I am working on the same pieces today. I had a few gaps, but nowhere near a full inch. I had to massage the angles on several bends on both the left and right sides to get a decent fit.

ya, its almost like the vertical piece that attaches to the vertical tube on the firewall needs to go forward an inch, then my triangular piece on the upper wall might fit better. the little flap were the coolant tubes pass is also far from my piece that holds the rubber bulbing in it. i think i might cut vertically and shorten the piece to bring closer to the fire wall.

if anyone has a pic please post. thanks for the input.

I haven't done the drivers side yet, but on the passenger side, I was able to get it all in place, but the tab had to be bent a little (not an inch) to get it attached to the tube.
