The accolades keep coming for the Factory Five 818! Simon Hauger and his kids from West Philly High School displayed their school-built Factory Five at The White House this past Wednesday as part of an event sponsored by President Obama’s administration entitled “Maker Faire” highlighting DIY and modern technology that enables small companies, individuals, and enthusiasts to design and build exciting products.

The event was covered extensively on The White House website (http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2014/06/18/president-obama-white-house-maker-faire-today-s-diy-tomorrow-s-made-america) and in The Wall Street Journal (http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2014/06/18/photos-the-six-wonders-of-obamas-maker-faire-tour/?KEYWORDS=maker+faire). The Wall Street Journal picked the Factory Five 818 (which they called “A Magic Car”) as #2 on their “The Six Wonders of Obama’s ‘Maker Faire’ Tour”. Simon’s team is also profiled in The Philadelphia Inquirer. Click here to read the story. ()

The team from West Philly has previously won the Green Grand Prix with a hybrid-powered GTM, and Simon promises that this car will do even better!

Great press for the 818 and Factory Five.

But how about those kids from Philly, huh? What awesome experiences they are having, and then to show off their hard work to the President; very heady stuff!

Congratulations to the kids, their teacher, and to Factory Five. Enough cool stuff to spread around!

Regards,

Steve

Awesome. Really, really awesome.

Any chance they can fill us in on how they got to 98MPG?

The fact that West Phily got involved with the GTM and FFR for the first round and then found an even better platform with the 818 is such a great coincidence or just good timing. It's great for them and priceless for the 818 PR. What a story to be able to tell, that we built a car and met the President. Very cool!!! WEK.
