Guys, I have some build thread questions:

Is it best to post a build thread here, or under the 'build thread' location? I see there is only one build thread there and wondering why that is!

Posting photos - I am planning to sign up with Photobucket. Which link gets cut an pasted on a thread?

Thanks!
Ian

I don't know the right answer for the first question. I put my Mk4 build thread here in the Roadster section before I knew there was another location. So far no complaints and a number of other build threads as well. Don't know if there's a right or wrong answer. For your Photobucket question, pretty easy. There are a couple ways, but this is what I do. Once you upload the picture, display it in Photobucket and you should see on the RH side of the screen an area titled "Links to share this photo." I normally use the "IMG" (middle) one. Click in the box, and you should get a "Copied" message. Then go to your forum edit session, and do a paste command (Ctrl-V or right click-paste). The proper code will be inserted into your post. Don't change anything. If you want to use thumbnails, you can do exactly the same thing in the "IMG thumb" box. Paste the copied link from there into your thread. Thumbnails take up a little less space, and load a little more quickly for the reader. But you have to click to expand when reading. I prefer not using them.

Ian,

I just created the Roadster build thread forum last week when I created the FIA forums. I'd be happy it you posted your build thread there. I will be moving all the build threads to the new forum soon (leaving permanent redirects so no bookmarks are broken).

Regarding pics; We have pic albums here for you to use. There is no restriction on the number of photos or Albums you can create. There is currently a size restriction of 1900x1900. Click the Gallery drop down button at the top of the forum and then click "My Albums" from there you can create an album, upload pics and then reference them in your posts. If you have any question on creating Albums or posting pics let me know and I'll walk you through it.

I'm not a huge fan of the separate build thread, as it lumps all of your little projects and innovations in a huge thread that can get really long if your build takes more than a few months. In my case, I post separate threads about the milestones of my build - hopefully other builders find that useful.

David,

I'll be posting my build thread to your Sub-forum. I'll be building a MK 4 Coyote roadster. In doing my research for this project I've found myself jumping all over the various Forums and Sub-forums trying to get detailed information on the build process. I've been over many MK 4 build threads just to get details relating to a Mk IV build, then I have to go over all the Coyote MK 4 builds just to get specific information relating to that process. By doing this I have avoided a lot of potential pitfalls, unfortunately it has also taken a lot of time.

My MK 4 Complete Kit arrives this Monday. My Coyote engine arrived yesterday. I hope by posting to your Build Sub-forum it will be easier for me and others to follow our Builds.

Thanks,

Damien
