Today was the day. Father's day 2014. I bought this beast 3 years ago and have been working on her since. Filled the oil, primed the engine, added coolant, PS fluid (did not add gas yet - until she cranks OK).

Went for first crank and : no joy. Not hearing the fuel pump either (I was previously with older solenoid). I'm certain many of you have been down this road on your first start attempt. I'm seeking input on what to check. I'm running a 5.0L donor from 1993 LX.\

Ideas to check (appreciate feedback):

1) Replaced stock solenoid (the A, B, S version) with AutoZone's (A, B, S, "I" version). I ignored the "I" terminal. Perhaps this needs to be routed back to the coil.
2) Connected all red+ wires on the RHS of the solenoid based on Ford wiring diagram. Connected single wire down to Starter on LHS. Maybe these should be reversed.
3) Ground for solenoid : I exposed bare frame (removed paint) prior to install but - maybe the ground is not good enough.
4) Voltmeter time...

Here are some photos of the progress. Ignore the yellow center distributor wire - temporary solution since I relocated the coil way back.

Looks like you made some great progress, charter a Lear-jet and the boys from UpstateCobras will be there!

Try resetting your inertia switch. I'm getting the impression you are not getting any sign of the engine cranking, right? WEK.

BINGO!

I reset the inertia switch AND pressed in the clutch (forgot about the clutch switch). She cranks!

Still no fuel pump on ignition on but I'm getting there.

YES! Thanks for the suggestions.

Fuel pump problem solved (missed 1 wire connection from Chuck's Electric EFI Harness to the new solenoid). Now I have crank & fuel.

Will try first start tomorrow!

Put gas in it, not good to run fuel pump dry can burn it out.
