I am at the tail end of buttoning things up before I go-kart sometime this week. Got rear brake and tail lites operational along with front lites....got my Russ Thompson column mounted and wired, turn signals work when key is on, hazards work without key but with red plastic key "on" indicator lites wrk properly even my manual dimmer switch works with blue ind lite working. I thought I was all done until I saw red warning lite on bench. So I put diode in between 2 leads, and tapped into battery line constant power and gauge feed which is keyed on. So, why does the red warning lite go on when I turn main power key on but no ignition key. Is the resistor directional??

I can't help with your specific wiring issue. Not quite getting what you're describing. The low voltage indicator light for the alternator? Anyway, resistors are not directional. The do their thing wired either direction. At least I can help with that.

According to wiring directions that came with the gauges the red indicator / warning lite has to be tied into the system with the resistor inbetween the two wires that go to the red lite..in order for the battery to charge. It is supposed to go on briefly when you start the car then go off. My lite is on even before I get the key in.
