Though it didn't rain as predicted...

The second photo is the cutout attachment to the hood. Didn't get a picture with the hood installed, looks good. Jay says it uses donor motor and mechanism, they provide in the option the arms, wipers, the steel brace to the windshield and the hood piece.

Also saw a mockup of a trunk, initially sized to store the top with windows and frame.

FIA sure looked pretty....

Awesome.. Can't wait until it is finalized and for sale :)

Ok, not feeling the large section of hood you must cut out, but it's a solution.

I don't see what needs to be cut out, but how it Mike Everson's master cylinder relocation kit going to fit in there?

I fit them under and so did Erik and is was free

They say the hood cutout actually stiffens it as well, less vibration at speed. I got a short ride in that car at Carlisle and noticed the hood shake without it, even at slow speeds.

I'm gonna put my Everson reservoir on the open area on the brace on the right side. I bleed brakes a lot with track work.

Jay said they literally finished the wipers on Friday, should be up on the accessories page in a week or two.

This sounds perfect to me.

Eric actually took me over to show them to me (he was there with Wayne to pick up FIA #1) and he was very complimentary on their execution. I'm not much of a fabricator yet, so I'll probably get them. Hey, plenty of ways to do it....

It is totally in a persons perspective. Some will like them, others will not but the will work and fulfill the need for wipers in most States. I personally made a good support to apply some upward pressure on the hood lip and it does not move any longer. What's bothering me with them Is that I am just not feeling the way it changes the cars looks, but they will work well and hold up.

I was around with Erik talking and other 818 guys, I had the full beard, in my 30's

I want to see their wiper soln... I don't want to chop my hood! Chris, Erik and detailed photos of your solns? Did you both use the donor wrx parts as a baseline?

They show two wipers. I think Erik only had 1 wiper?

I will need a wiper solution in Texas

I've considered getting it inspected without the windshield then putting it on afterwards and hoping cops don't realize and give me a hard time if they don't come out with a good solution for wipers. I have no intentions on being out in the rain so I'd be ok not running wipers.

FYI we could always put a manual headlight type wiper. It doesn't say in the rules how effective it must be. Just that it is operational ;-) ;-) picture if you will a 3in wiper. Would that be to much like sticking it to the man :-) all seriousness aside I'll try to get it inspected without as well

I just checked it out and I don't think it would work. They actually have it worded that they must adequately clear the windshield. :(

Is there any more pictures of the wipers? How does it look with the hood closed?

That's a huge cut. Debatable, not sure it's good looking or not.
Maybe I can build a FB lip that would go over the wipers instead of cutting.

That's what everyone is talking about with cutting the hood....

I wonder what a cowl hood would look like on the 818?
Maybe something similar to the stingray?

The lip at the back or the huge scoop?

Just one of the joys of being an early adopter.

I'm thinking a lip on the end would "tacked on" . If the goal is to cover the wipers, then a lip would have to be what looks like 4-5" from the photo. Something that large IMHO would blend better if it started further down the hood. I'm not sure if Calif. Requires wipers, but if they do then I'm not sure if I like the cutting the hood solution. At least fiberglass is an easy medium to modify.

The wiper arms need to be very flat under the hood, the hood should have been higher in that area

That is what I mentioned/meant, yes. But I thought starting at far back up as possible would look ok. Anyways, once I get there I'll figure out. I have to, I got no choice. :(

Why not adapt those aftermarket solutions for the roadster? I think I saw at least one.
