I had a real problem with the centers on the Halibrand wheels. I pinned with 1/8 roll pins. No good. Riveted from behind, then riveted from the front. Riveting from the front works great. You need an angle to get the center and it needs to be centered. Solution. Set the center on a spray paint can. Set the wheel on top. Visually center the center in the wheel. Drill 1/8 in holes. I use the sections next to the lugs. They will be covered. Use the long 1/8 in rivets. I used 2 but you could use 5 if you are freaky. Easily drilled out if tire replacement is necessary, and in hope to go through a few sets of tires. 29810

Neat idea, Dale. But, why would you need to remove them if replacing tires?

Dale,
Tire mounting and balance machines pilot through the center.
A different option is to drill and tap the wheel for 8-32 or 10-32 at the same location Tocoti shows his rivets. You'll only need to do one per wheel. Install a setscrew long enough to snug the center to the wheel for threading on the spinner. Easy peasy!

I don't understand the issue with the center cap - can you explain. I use a small slot screwdriver to hold the center cap in place while installing the spinner. Easy and done.
Thx

Thx - why rivet / drill-tap unless possibly for racing ???? What am I missing here - confused
Thx
I think the issue is sometimes getting the spinner back off, it tends to "sieze" with the threads and the whole unit turns. pinning the center section with rivets or bolt would take care of this.

Exactly! Getting the spinner on can be challenging also. Plenty of threads on this issue.

Thx Feen & Dale - now I've got it! Ding-Ding the light just went on.
Great tip.
Thanks for clarifying.

If you seize the threads on the spinner you are screwed to say it nicely. I was there. I survived. I learn and adapt. Love the threaded screw solution.
