Trying to think of ways of making my 818S safer/structurally stouter for an occasional track day. 1: I see that there will be plenty of room within the fiberglass rocker panels to add lower frame bars over the coolant tubes. Would this add protection in a potential side crash? 2: Some guys have mentioned welding sheet steel over the door frames and/or adding foam inside the doors. Are the door latches strong enough to bother with this mod? 3: Am thinking of adding some kind of side bars above the doors from the roll bar to under the dash like the R model has, only removable. Any value to this?

Main issue is that most organizations due to insurance requirements are not allowing roadsters to run HPDE events w/o a full approved roll cage (read need R version here), we are seeing this in the NW. So concern would be over the height of the roll bar over your helmet and lack of front hoop, unless you are in wheel to wheel racing the side impact protection would not matter.

In the Northeast, except for BMWCCA, private track groups will normally allow topless cars to run. So I am thinking more of safety than tech regs.
