Hey Gang!

I've been looking at this kit for a while and am just a few weeks away from starting to amass parts for the build.

I'm just getting down the home stretch on another Subie powered build. I have a Porsche 914 that I've been converting and restoring for the last 6-mos. ( http://bit.ly/1o9FhWK ) Very similar concept and geometry. (Mid-engine, lightweight, 2 seater, targa, etc.) Once that's out of the way in storage for the winter, the 818 is on my build-list.

I'm curious if anyone knows of a car in Cleveland OH or Atlanta GA that I could take a look at and/or drive. I want to make sure this is what I'm looking for before I start dropping $ on everything. I tend to go a little deep and over-do things when I'm building a car. I spent about $2K re-building the EJ 20 I have not with forged everything on a top/bottom rebuild. I'm expecting about 350HP on the 914.

Having 2 mid-engine, Subie powered 2-seaters could be a lot of fun. At least the wife could drive one kid around while I'm driving the other.

Anyways...that's a long introduction. Hope to be hearing from people and having my own build-thread at some point.

Awesome. I may make a trip down there to check it out. Although the more I read, the more I'm convinced. I know what a 914 drives like, and can't imagine this is too far off. With modern parts and not a lot of "I'll engineer it on my own" I think this may be the way to go for my next build.

I was talking to one if my "Subaru parts" guys about the 818 and he told me there are two in the area that I can go see. One is done, the other just started. I already ordered a kit and bought my donor already, so I'm hip-deep already...but I still want to see one in person before I get too far....

Hi CptTripps!

Welcome! I'm in Medina, but not near completion to drive it. The suspension is bolted on, the engine is in, the wire harness is just about ready to move over to the car. There's another in Canton who is just starting. Bob piped in above, and there's another in Bowling Green. You're welcome to stop by and see the mess that used to be my garage. Send me a PM to set it up. There might be a few near Atlanta further along, I'm losing track of who is where.
