I got the wipers installed. I had to take the motor out because the shaft fell out. There is a C clip on the outside of the housing but nothing on the inside to hold it in.

Pictures? The Lucas wiper motor assembly? Have heard about everything possible that can happen to that thing, but not quite getting this one.

I took mine apart to check it out when I was having difficulty getting it to "park." I seem to recall an inside and an outside "C" clip. As Edward wrote - pics would be best.

If it had a c clip should be a another groove on the shaft for it.

I have to take it apart tomorrow again so I will take pictures. I just need it to pass inspection and make sure it works every year! I'm so close! The bumpers are next and then it's paperwork/ DMV time! I really can't wait to get it out of 2nd gear. Just one progress picture for tonight. 29722

Oh, and yes that is a refrigerator under the bench. It has paint in it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Nice teaser pic! Now, when do we get to see the rest?
I have to confess that if there is anything besides beer, and perhaps some drinks for any young'uns around, we need to inspect your man card! ;-o)
Good luck with the wipers and NYS inspection folks. Please let us know how it goes.
Oh, and some more pics!!
Regards,
Steve

Any photos of where to mount the wiper motor on the firewall? The build manual doesn't really explain this.

The wiper motor can be installed pretty much anywhere on the pass side where it will fit. Normally it's on the firewall. But Ilve seen in on the footbox or hanging from the 3/4 inch tubes. The cable is long enough and flexible enough to handle it. Just make the tubes accordingly. Here's my Mk4 in a pretty typical location on the firewall above the pass side footbox. If you have a heater, it won't go here. You would have to adjust some.

Jakster it's not real critical where you mount it. Needs to be in line w/ the tube coming from the gearbox so that takes care of vertical placement. To me horizontal placement depends on two things. 1- any other stuff mounted nearby. 2-access to the other side of the holes you drill so you can get a big fender washer and nut on there and be able to tighten them.
