I noticed any non-black frames yet so I thought I'd post up a few photos of our white 818 frame in case anyone is interested. Looks great and got it done for $425.

You're right. It really makes the car stand out. Karen had hers at HB and it looks good on a coupe too. What color combos are you going to go with the white frame? I was wondering about the roll bar. That's what shows the most on the 818 from outside. WEK.

We considered doing the upper roll bar in black, but decided to not bother for the time being. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up painting that portion black after getting the body mounted. For the body, we'll go unpainted at first, but maybe using a metallic gray paint at some point. I think matching the upper roll bar to the body generally looks good and would favor that, unless we want some kind of contrast/accent color. I'd rather spend paint money on going to the track, so who knows when that'll happen.
We figured there's some nice functional benefit to white since it'll reflect light well and also reveal fluids and foreign debris much more than black.

Good luck trying to keep it clean. :) But it looks awesome!
Is pic #7 the driver's side? I think yes. If yes, I also think you installed the lower shock mount the wrong way.

Luckily, I can live happily with things not show-car clean =)
Do you mean the lower shock mount hanging on the shock with no lower control arm? It's just hanging out until we pull the arms off the donor next weekend.

It seems popular on the interior of rally cars and a fair amount of race cars in general. Is there a consensus on why they do it, or is it just taste?

^white shows hairline cracks and stress points in the frame/cage more easily...

Very nice, I would have done white if it was an option... all local powder coaters wanted twice that to clean and coat the frame so I had FFR do it.

Yeah, but you can't use a white frame after Labor Day...
At least that's what I heard.
I like it!

Wow, white, blue, chrome. I like them all. I was thinking something shocking might be interesting too, like fluorescent green or pink. But, I'll probably just go with plain ol' black - that's the only option with the FFR powder coating, right?

That is a major upside.

I don't have a chrome frame. Chrome PC was the first coat under the translucent intense blue PC.
But on my second car, I might stop with the chrome.

Oh, I knew you have two so I assume you did one of each. The chrome PC looks pretty good on its own, maybe you should give it a shot.

As already states re the cracks but also show leaks and spills well inside a race car. Black being the worst. And contrary to popular thinking black is harder to keep clean than white. Ask anyone who owns a black car.

I have been going all over the place on powder coating. I started out wanting glow in the dark yellow then found out the glow in the dark colors fade from UV light and don't look good long term (powder coater told me). Then I started think of just yellow but the last week or so I've been thinking black or white because they are easy colors to match if you ever need to fix something. Not that that would happen ;). ;) anyway looks good! I may be the second white frame!! :)
