Question- what are Mk4 owners doing regarding emblems - using FFR supplied emblems, other emblems (what), or no emblems. I really like the FFR supplies emblems but also like no emblems (keeps them guessing).

I just installed my FFR emblems. I have a Cxbxa steering emblem but just replaced with the FFR steering column emblem

Thx

I'm a fan of the FFR emblems; will use for the steering wheel; undecided about nose, trunk and sides.

I think the FFR emblem is very nice. It doesn't look cheap or anything like that. However, I don't like the emblems on the nose or tail of any variety. I guess the AC would be the one I would choose if I was going to do it at all. I think a car with the pedals and all the emblems would be pretty cool and make people scratch their head when looking it over. Love to see the faces of confused onlookers! WEK.

I am looking for a set of high quality Cobra emblems for the hood and trunk - Does anyone have good source? I received a set from Finish Line and the steering wheel emblem is very nice however the trunk and hood emblems are not the same quality (I won't be using them).

Thx

My car has an "AC" center cap for the steering wheel, "AC" pedals, "AC" badges on the hub centers, "Powered by Ford" badges over the side louvers (without engine size - they're the early 289 style), and the "Cobra" round badges on the nose and tail. ********** used to carry really nice parts, but you may also want to check with Cobra Restorers, Branda, and Cobra Automotive.

One word of caution, though... many of these resellers carry parts from the same sources, so it often doesn't make a difference who you buy from. If you're particular, you may have to make a few purchases / returns to get just what you want. Also, ask resellers if they offer different versions, such as parts that are "concours quality."

I put the FFR badges on the nose and trunk of my Mk3. Also in the steering wheel center and floor mats. So there aren't too many doubts... I like the look of the FFR logo, I'm not trying to hide what it is (quite proud of it actually) and many comment favorably about how they look and the brand. Also have the "Powered by Ford" emblems on the side above the louvers. So it's pretty decked out.

I mounted the 427 badges over the side louvers and bought the Cobra badges from ********** for the nose & trunk. I thought they looked pretty good, but I'll look more closely tonite, now that you said that.

btw, I haven't installed the nose and trunk badges yet, what is the location? "X" distance from the hood or tip of the nose? "X" distance fromt the top of the trunk of from the license plate lamp(?)

Thx for the replies

As the MK4 is modelled after the 427 - is it appropriate to use a 427 side badge even though I have a Coyote? I think the hp of the Coyote is equivalent the the original 427??

I have seen 427 badges on these cars with much less hp.

Thoughts

I used Finish Line's Cobra emblems on the nose and trunk. I used the FFR emblem along with an AC badge also from Finish Line, on the steering wheel. I refer to my roadster as a Factory Five AC Cobra reproduction. Everybody gets recognition.

And those AC badges that cobrajj used in his steering wheel center are the perfect size for the flat spot on the hub centers for the FFR Halibrand-replica wheels.

Here is what I did with four of those...

This has been debated quite a lot over on the other forum. Normally HP isn't part of the discussion. Some use the 427 badges because that's what the replica is of, even if their build doesn't have 427 cubes under the hood. Others say don't hang a 427 badge if you don't have a 427 engine (even though many apparently were 428's). The "Powered by Ford" is a generic option (what I chose for my Mk3) although technically those weren't used on these models. You could go outside the box and use a Coyote badge (do a Google search, some pretty interesting ones) or you could just leave the badges off. Or you could go with something custom. That's what I'm doing with my DART powered Mk4. There's no right answer, only what's right for you.
