I received my kit 6/24/11. I never imagined it would have taken me this long to reach this stage. However, this is all new to me and I'm enjoying the learning curve (and no deadlines).

Very nice project! I like your philosophy of "no deadlines". Actually, you will be able to enjoy the build process longer that way. I kept telling people about building my car and they kept asking me when will you finish. I had some stumbling blocks and delays but all in all it was a fun time. Mine still isn't finished but it's on the road and I'm having a ball driving. The only regret you might have later is that you could have been driving it sooner. That's not a biggy! Enjoy!!!

Wow! Nice garage set-up on your house! And the neighborhood looks well kept also.

Congratulations on your first start - first go-kart! It sounds and looks good!
Up until this year, I would agree with the no deadlines idea - I got my kit in 2005 and am still not finished. But I am really wanting to drive it now so I have finally set a goal to finish by this fall. A 9 year build time I think is long enough!

I guess we all get that question a lot. I'm looking forward to it changing from "When will you finish?" to "Is it real?".

Todd:
Mine's back on jack stands for more sheet metal. I'm getting itchy to drive it some more.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Great job! Thanks for sharing the videos... you're certainly much farther along with the chassis than I was for those milestones, so the added time is understandable. I agree, though, that having no deadlines makes the project much more fun.

Congrats Mrpipes. A thought for you. If it's in good gokart condition, you could slap that body on as is, do lights and a windshield and 'drive that thang'. You could be driving in 2-3 weeks. I actually like the idea as it gives you time to get doors and trunk fits that actually work in the real world. Figure out some things you might want to change when the body is off for paint etc.
