Im looking at running a puch button start in my car. So far ive looked at Digital Gaurd Dog and SMY Performance. I dont really need keyless entry considering theres no locks. Not sure if i want to pay the extra money for the system that needs a keyfob to start. Any thoughts.

I'm going push button. I really want to continue the "kit car with modern tech" concept by putting in a modern style push button start where the fob has to be in the car to enable the start button.

I've used the Digital Guard Dawg system on 3 roadsters and will be using it on my personal coupe. System works great and the customer service is fantastic. You could run a push button(like S2000 button) with a key or hidden switch. I used the key and button setup on some of my earlier roadsters and that works great as well.

why do you need a key if you have the dawg system with rfid?

You don't need to use a key with the guard dawg system. The earlier cars didn't have the guard dawg system, just a key to turn the ignition on and a push button for the starter.
I do go ahead and use the keyed ignition switch when I wire in the guard dawg. Not to use when starting the car, but as a backup/ bypass if something ever goes wrong with the guard dawg system. I hide the key switch under the dash. Haven't needed it, but since the switch comes with the wiring harness might as well use it.

It's amazing how these sites get you to spend money.

I'm thinking about using a Scorpio i900 motorcycle alarm with a push button so that I also get the added benefit of a perimeter sensor that will set the alarm off if someone gets into or reaches into the car since this will be a open top vehicle that any Joe Schmoe can just hop into.

I really like this idea, probably going to add this to my parts list haha!

I was thinking about the same thing. The wiring of it should be straight-forward if you have a kit that includes everything. There are some easy RFID systems out there on eBay and the like that'll get you there with minimal 'engineering'

How did everything turn out with your added electronics?

Wondering where you installed the poppers?

Pretty old thread, if you're asking about Digital Guard Dawg and door poppers, I have done this on the '33 and would be happy to answer any questions - PM me if you wish. Obviously can't help with the 818 mechanical aspects :)
