Greetings!
I found out about the factory five 818 fairly recently and I realized I just had to have it. I love being different but I love subarus. The 818 was it for me. Quickly I talked to my boss and placed the order. Now a little about me, I am 20 years old and the tuner for a Subaru performance shop in the Portland metro area of Oregon. We are Horizontal Motorsports, and we specialize in engine builds mainly. We do all of our blocks in house by hand, and pride ourselves on quality control and delivering results.
Anyways previously I had an 03 wrx that had a hybrid ej257 block with ej207 heads that were port matched. Running a vf39 I tuned it to 330whp at 365tq. It was a fun little whip. I sold it to chase after my rally dreams. Now I own a little gf wagon, and a gc sedan which is my rally car. I am currently selling that to help fun my FF818 build. My goals for the 818 are to put our "stage 3" ej257 longblock in it and hit 450whp on pump 92 octane. I am gonna run full speed density with antilag and sparkcut launch control. I can't wait for the kit to get here. I stare at the mockup I have done of the car every day. :)
Any questions?
Attached is a photoshop of the color I will be doing.

Welcome!
Yeah that color seems to fit it pretty well! I am keeping it as a choice if I decided to change my color in the future and can find a vinyl wrap close to this color paint.

Well right before I ordered I called on the phone and the lady told be they were out till November. But it keeps pushing back every day. I ordered literally the day after. So I am guessing somewhere around december. Idk. Either way I am not going to have them push up the date until I have the finances in my hand for the rest of it. I still have to source a donor car, etc.

Nice looking mock up. Similar color as what I have planned. I've all but chosen porsche gt3 rs gray. Where does that color come from?
Welcome to the forum.

Congrats and Welcome. Nice photoshop also. I stole it and added it to the consolidated color examples thread here: http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?14045-818-Color-Guide-and-Examples

Nice! That'll be sweet! I'm planning to run a 257/205 hybrid with a VF39 in my 818, just like your last ride! Maybe I bought your car as my donor!

Well I got the order confirmation and it says date of arrival is september 15th or so! Hopefully I can get my finances in line by then. I wanna get this thing and get it rolling. I really want the soft top but I don't know if I can afford it quite yet. :(

Nice - my production date is just before yours. I talked with FFR and they indicated that the soft top will incur a shipping charge even if you order with the kit since it is shipped straight from the manufacturer. It's not like other options where there is a savings to ordering it right away. As a result, you can easily wait until later in the build process to order it without incurring extra cost (unless of course they increase the price). I'm planning to go that route and order in the spring when I get close to completion. Saves space in the garage that way too.

We placed our order about a month ago and were told the end of October. I wonder if they are upping production even more? We're going to have to email them! I'm counting down the days already...
450WHP will make for one crazy 818. Do you plan to do any sort of performance driving with it?

I would like to do a couple hpde and track days here at Portland International Raceway. And then I will be going to the dragstrip a couple times as well. I have to race a somewhat local celebrity in his 700+hp integra. I think it should be a close race ;)

Now after calling Factory Five and changing a few things on my order etc. The completion date is 8/16/14! Woah! That is awesome I guess I need to call stewart transport and arrange a delivery to my shop. What are your opinions on not using a donor car and just getting all the pieces. The engine, tranny, axles, pedal box, brakes, cluster, harness & ecu, etc. are not an issue I have all that lying around. And can source other stuff pretty quickly. Is that just as easy?

If you have all of that stuff available, I would think it would almost be easier to source what you need rather than tearing down a complete donor. Tons of part outs on Nasioc.com to find what you don't have.

Appreciate it! The only parts I would need would be like, axles, brake hub assembly, pedal box, gauge cluster and some 04-07 limited leather seats. That's about it. Maybe a tranny.

Welcome indeed. It is great to have more 818s in Oregon. I would agree with the others that you can do it without a donor car, especially if you have a shop that typically has a lot of extra Subaru stuff laying around.
