Does anyone know if this will fit under the hood and does the cross bar need to be modified?

Kraig,
I don't know about the hood clearance but the I've never heard that the 4" tube needed to be cut. Some have clearanced the tube for the '03 Supercharged "Terminator" motor or a 5.4 liter, but the coyote is a "standard" motor option now. Others with specific knowledge will chime in I'm sure.
:)

Most are using 3/8" shims between the motor mounts and perches to get the Moroso / Champ oil pans even or slightly above the frame rails. Without them they hang down a little. With them, the crank pulley clears the 4" cross tube fine.
On mine normally aspirated Coyote with the 3/8" shims installed here are a couple of measurements:
- ~2" of clearance to the hood and the top of the engine cover at the front of the motor (closest to the throttle body)
- ~3.25" of clearance to the hood and the top of the engine cover at the back of the motor (closest to the firewall)
You may be able to compare this to the measurements from Ford / Edelbrock with and without the supercharger.

Thank a Dave! I am looking forward to making life long friends here. Takes a certain kind of guy to shrug off all the new stuff and opt for a 1965 design.

Thanks Kevin!
Edelbrock states 23" from crank center line to the top of the motor. Ya think that will fit with the shims? It looks like the edelbrock motor is about 3" taller than the stock coyote, but they do not say where across the motor is the highest point....

I just measured ~18.5" from center of crank to top of engine cover at the throttle body, with the 3/8" shims in. You are in for a very nice oval-shaped hood scoop.

I REALLY appreciate the advice guys. I love the look of the car so I don't know if the extra power is worth changing the lines of the hood.....

KK-
Before you commit to the supercharged coyote, I would encourage you to take a ride in almost any of the stock engines out there. Certainly the coyote would be the best choice, but nearly any of the 302 or 351 based engines will do the trick. I say this because I am not entirely sure you will feel that you "need" the supercharged engine.
I am sure others will chime in with their thoughts and ideas, but I just wanted to mention that these cars handle and move quite well with a modest amount of power. Of course if you have specific racing goals for your car, forget everything I just said. However, I think you will be satisfied with the overall performance without the supercharger.
Again, feel free to completely dismiss my thoughts, and go in whatever direction you wish! I just wanted to toss out my initial thoughts.
Whatever direction you go, welcome to a pretty cool community! There are countless folks here who will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Best of luck going forward, and please keep us updated on your plans.
Regards,
Steve

After talking to a lot of people (FFR, Backdraft, CSX, and Superformance owners) the consensus seems to be that something in the neighborhood of 500-550HP is the limit of what is actually usable. Beyond that doesn't much matter.

THX Steve and Kevin,
I have wanted one of theses cars ever since I was a young boy and saw "The Gumball Rally". Now that I am almost 50 ~ now is the time!
THX again for the input guys.
