View Full Version : How did you install a rivnut for the cable throttle?

I see that the new instructions still include a 25/64ths hole in the frame for the rivnut at the top of the pedal bracket.

Yet, even a 3" bit and my 90 degree shorty drill combo is 1/2" too long to fit in-between the frame member and the welded crosspiece that supports the pedal box.

Want to make sure its not a rounded out hole (such as drill small and file) to get the fit, haven't had luck with that on a rivnut.

Seen the discussions on not using the pedal mount, hesitant to have it just bolted to aluminum.

Tricks?

Thanks….

Elegant, gentlemen, thank you.

Now, how to avoid 3 hours with 5 hacksaw blades to cut the drill….

No torch yet, die grinder just as slow as the saw.

Another option is to drill an 1/8 inch hole all the way through from the inside, then drill the 25/64ths from the outside using the hole as a guide. Install a rivnut in both sides. Use the firewall side to mount something else or just leave it empty.

Or do what the other guys said and use a cutoff wheel to cut down a bit.
