For anyone that has a roadster and registered their vehicle in the past few years in CA, have you needed windshield wipers to pass the inspection? I have my mk4 ordered and being delivered in a little more than a month, but didn't purchase wipers to go along with me kit. Not sure if I should install them during the build to make sure i pass inspection??

I have them but never installed them. They were not needed to register or pass any inspection.
:)
PS Welcome to the forum! If you are in Orange County, CA, USA you are welcome to come by and check out my build(s)

Welcome to the forum. As David states, many builders have never installed wipers on their roadster. They ARE required according to the DMV so you could be ticketed by an officer if he wanted to (same as front license plates). None of my builds have had wipers.

Still in the box, but if cited, I could then install them.

I'm in Texas and I clamped on a couple of hand operated wipers to get through the inspection here. The inspector (ASE Master Mechanic) accepted them. They are now in the trunk waiting for me to go drive my roadster in the rain... : )

Awesome! Thanks for all the info everyone. I think I'll just take my chances and leave them off my order.
