View Full Version : SS Flaring Tool
I'm contemplating using stainless steel for the brake and fuel lines, but it looks like the flaring tool will cost more than the stainless line. Would anyone be willing to sell me a good, used flaring tool or let me rent theirs? It seems like a bit of a waste to buy a $200 flaring tool (http://www.eastwood.com/professional-brake-tubing-flaring-tool.html) and a $90 37 degree die set (http://www.eastwood.com/37-deg-flare-die-set-for-25304.html) just to use it this one time.

Are you using AN fittings? Otherwise you don't need the 37 degree die set. Typically brake and fuel lines only need the 45 degree set included with the flaring tool.
Another option regarding the flaring tool, if you think you'll only use it once, buy it and sell it when you're done. I've seen these come up on the for sale forums occasionally, and they always seemed to get snapped up pretty quickly.

I don't really know. From reading the forums it sounded like I needed the 37 degree flares.

Only if you're doing AN fittings. All the fittings provided by FFR (tube nuts, tee's, etc.) are 45 degree double flare fittings. Would likely be the same if you changed, e.g. to SS fittings.
