Hi guys,
I have warm air coming through my ducts when i'm driving. I know the air is just being forced through the fan opening in the engine compartment but i was wondering if it was just hot air from the headers or if it is getting heated by the heater core. I was planning on putting in a cut off valve so the core doesn't get any hot water but that got me thinking that it may just be hot air from engine compartment.
Anyone have similar experience?

thanks
jim

If you don't have some type of shut- off on the heater lines you will get heat from the core. The vintage air kit I got from FFR had a cable type shut-off valve. May need to restrict air flow through the heater box also if it is coming from the engine compartment. Hasn't been warm enough here in Wis. yet to worry about it!

yeah i have the cable shut off too but thought maybe that didn't restrict it 100%. i'll go with the additional valve and see what happens.

I stopped the leakage of hot air from the engine compartment through the heater, by stuffing some foam rubber into the outlets. Stopped all hot air from coming into the cockpit. Simple to remove when cold weather returns.

I put an inline cut off in the supply side and that cured the the warm air issue. Now i have a nice feed of cooler air when i'm driving.
