Has anyone deleted it? I'm just starting on my harness and haven't researched it yet just figured someone else might have already done it. It's a 2002 WRX.

I left mine in on our 2002. See page WI-94 and WI-95 in the 2002 wiring diagram and look at A and B on the lower left coming out of the integrated unit. It effects the dimmer on the combination unit (gauges) on page WI-95.

I deleted mine, but I'm not using the OEM gauge cluster.

I kept mine, but removed the wires associated with the systems I'm removing. Only about 2/3 of the connections are left.

FYI: On the 06 WRX the Body Integrated Unit is used in the cluster dimming circuit, but strangely enough on the 06 STI the BIU is not used for that function. If you look at the schematic for both it would be possible to convert a WRX harness to do it the way the STI does, thus allowing you to delete the BIU.
At least in the STI case, if you don't want the wireless door lock/unlock to work you can delete the entire BIU.

I'm keeping mine for the dimming for the dash, door triggered foot well lights, the light around the key and the key in buzzer. None of those are critical and you could clearly delete it if you wanted to. I just decided I wanted to take advantage of the fact that those features were already there and left them. I think it will make the car seem a little more 'finished.'
