So you are selling your 818 (well built I might add) with a blown engine for 18K (great deal!!!!) or someone is looking to trade you their unstarted kit with full donor package from a low mileage WRX and give you cash. So if this was to work out then you would want to sell the traded kit and donor parts. What is the unstarted kit with the donor worth since someone could pick up the package with zero wait? Factory Five I think is out to mid 2015 if someone was to order a kit today. Interesting to hear responses as to value since my kit isn't started yet either. Wonder if with the wait, the value of the kit has gone up due to the instant gratification factor.

18K for your car I feel is a great deal. Good luck and sorry to hear about your engine.

Just testing the waters with it since I am very limited on free time of late.

That's not true about kit availability, spoke to FFR last week and they told me they still have more than a handful of kits available for September and October delivery dates.

Still a pretty decent deal though, good luck

They must be cranking the kits out then, I thought they were a year plus out. That is awesome, these kits will catapult F5R to the next level. I was a little concerned the wait would lose some clients. The more they sell the more mainstream the name gets recognizable, between the GTM and now the 818 the original designs will really make them more then just as a kit car company.

BUT. History dictates, the more kits the lower the value of finished cars.

Indeed, which is why I tell people to never consider any kit cars as an investment, but always a toy. 95% of all builders will lose money when they go to resell.

But after 10 years of fun and games new friends learning I didn't mind selling for less than it cost and embarking on a new 818 journey

I would definitely not want to see ffr go mainstream with their kits, then the 818 and gtm will turn into honda civics and corvettes, over produced

Honda civics and Vettes are produced in the 100's of thousands. At best Factory Five has the ability to be a limited production company like Ultima or Noble. Both of which are vastly more expensive then what Factory Five can now produce and sell with their market penetration. I would love to see Factory Five have the financial ability to produce a 250k ultra Supercar but that could only happen if the reputation of the company was far more then their replica car market beginnings.

Offer up, was just testing waters as I said.Fully building my engine and a new turbo. New bearings, arp studs and wrist pins, forged piston and etc. new valves and all accociated machine work. Mated to a Blouch Dominator 1.5 xrt twinscroll. This should be good for my abuse. But I will be driving it easier until it's all sorted out and running like a champ. Got a six speed also if I need it. New parts ordered, but won't do build till Lata fall, going to do body work and paint now.

Yeah I just got really upset when this happened cause my life is so busy and time is the enemy. I was figuring I would not have the time needed, but my wife told me if I sold it to move out, cause as much as it is very involved to build, she knows what makes me tic . It is a catch 22 for sure with her, but I think if I pace myself I will have the outcome I want, and be the father and husband I need to be.
