Very nice and crisp; I like the layout of the lights. Carpet done too. Sure wish I was that far along.

Thanks! I'm trying to keep symmetry, functionality, and respect to the classic in mind. I was freaky about the carpeting. That took about 10 hrs or so. I had each piece in and out many times before cementing it in. Sound barrier then Kevlar heat barrier before the carpet.. It should be complete soon and I will soon be going through building withdrawal. I plan on painting next Tuesday.

Yeah, I remember doing the carpet on my MK II; took forever and I was always aware of the slightest mistake.
How about some info on the heat barrier? Source, Part#?

The heat barrier was a Mylar/foil bubble wrap. I can't find the place that I got it. It was about 50$ I think. I'll keep looking and let you know. I didn't buy it for the car. I used it for another project and had enough left over for the car. I can put a flame next to it and it holds up.

I've got the same stuff from Home Depot; have not installed yet. Just wondered how it works vs. conventional insulation. I like the low profile it has.

I only used it in the foot boxes. I should know how it works in 4weeks. :) I plan on painting Tuesday. I think the hardest part of this build was deciding on the paint!

Oh, and I took the drivers side outer foot box panel off, installed the heat/ sound and carpet, then reinstalled it. The sound barrier is Grace Vicor plus 12x75 roll. The adhesive is super strong. I got some stuck to me and if it gets stuck to itself forget about it and start over. If you get a bubble under it just zing it with a razor blade. I used a surgeons scalpel for trimming the carpet.
