First time builders, were your roadsters hooked up and tested for emissions at the DMV station the first time you took the car in or did they just slap a sticker on the windshield and you drove out without any sort of testing?

Emissions are tied to the year of the block in NJ
What year block are you using for your build?
Also, which county in NJ do you live?

Just got inspected in March at Asbury and they just check the year of the block and issue a paper that you then take to an emission testing facility and they set the machine to the standards of that year.
Do you have the check list for NJ? I don't want to repeat anything and you can search the forum it's out there.

I did the Asbury Park safety inspection in August of last year. They were supposed to do some background checks regarding the O2 sensors and get back to me but they never got back to me with the paper mentioned above. I have to follow-up with them on that.
So after seven months of nervousness about the emissions process I finally got up the nerve to go see if I'd pass emissions or not, so I drove up, they got real excited about seeing the car, asked to see the registration, slapped a sticker in the window and I drove off. I was there for as long as it took me to take the registration out of my wallet and for them to print the sticker. A total of maybe 6 minutes. No emissions inspection necessary till fall of 2018.
I was just curious about other experiences as my experience seemed a little fast and not what I expected.
