has anyone ever used HID's for the head lights?

Yes this has been done. Most of the aftermarket add-on HID systems require a relay be used due to the higher amp draw.

is it worth it? i mean im not planing on driving a lot at night but how are the f5 lights?

The supplied headlight setup is old school halogen sealed beams. They work. Think back a few years and that's what they are. I personally find them completely adequate for the amount of night driving I do.
