I thought I would start a thread asking for opinions of what you think would make HB 2015 an even better show than 2014? I did hear some comments so I will include them to hopefully get things started:

1. Trailer Parking closer to the show.
2. Credit Card acceptance at the swag tent.
3. More GTM's in attendance.
4. Would like the return of the track day.
5. Scratch and Dent stuff like the open house.
6. Raffle Items and a 50/50 with the proceeds going to CF.
7. Identifying the winners so people will know what car won what award.
8. Return of the "Moment of Thunder".
9. Names on both sides of nametag.
10. Discounts at local restaurants along Main Street.
11. Under Construction class.
12. Walking "Voice of the Show".
13. FFR Builder All Star Band.

These are some that attendees told me directly, now it is your turn to add to the list.

Edited 5/1 with comments from PM's.

I know it was too early in the process for this to happen this year. But next year I hope there will be some of the beta builders for the 818 at the show maybe with their projects to show and discuss their adventures. I did enjoy talking with Jim about the 818 a little. It would have been fun to have Grass Roots Motorsports there and Mike P.

The venue is so spread out, it would be good to have a MC walking around interviewing individual owners and showing their cars in real time on the "Jumbotron" set up for those who may not be able to do the whole trek. I'm not sure where that would be as the band and DJ would probably blast them out! Oh well.

Thanks,

WEK.

Since the Nomads allowed sit-ins I'd like to arrange the first ever concert by the FFR builder all star band.

How about speaking with the business owners along that stretch of Main and see if they would give say 10% off for participants with proof. I'd be willing to drive up and see if we get that kind of deal.

I think it is great to have this dialog and see what we as owners can do to make the experience better each year. Not just for us as participants but also the spectators and passers-bye. However, below I have highlighted in red some of the concerns each of these bring with them.

I thought I would start a thread asking for opinions of what you think would make HB 2015 an even better show than 2014? I did hear some comments so I will include them to hopefully get things started:

1. Trailer Parking closer to the show. One of the way this could be done is to use the Peir Plaza Lot. This will drive the price up for all participants.
2. Credit Card acceptance at the swag tent. This is easy, we use the Square Reader that plugs into our smartphones for service work we do.
3. More GTM's in attendance. Unless GTM owners are available to bring their cars, we can only try and guilt them into this. I'm not for that.
4. Would like the return of the track day. Unless FFR can at least break even on the track day, I don't see this happening. I believe they lost money in 2013. There would be nothing stopping a group of owners to organize this. Or how about a day long cruise through the local mountains. I could get with that.
5. Scratch and Dent stuff like the open house. Great idea, but this may limit the amount of vehicles FFR can bring with them in the hauler.
6. Raffle Items and a 50/50 with the proceeds going to CF. See answer for #5
7. Identifying the winners so people will know what car won what award. This one is though. Seems that everyone (participants) seem to leave after the awards are given. So I'm not sure how this could be acomplished. Awards first thing in the morning? What if a car that would have won an award arrived after the judging?
8. Return of the "Moment of Thunder". The business are not going to be happy with this. The only reason this was viable on the Pier Plaza is that it did not interfere (too much) with the businesses. I don't see this returning as long as the show remains on Main Street.

Also to Rays point of a discount. I love a discount, I really do. But I don't think any of the prices I was exposed to on Saturday were out of line. I'm also not upset about Factory Five making a buck or two on us. But here are some numbers. As a spectator this year I spent $1.50 per hour to park my car in the Pier Plaza lot. So lets say from 8 am in the morning to 4 in the afternoon would have cost me $12. When the show was on the Pier Plaza I paid nearly $50 for the same amount of time in the same lot. Now granted, Main Street is a bit different and this year with the wind the Plaza would have sucked. But those are just the numbers. I was perfectly happy when the show was on the Plaza but I did get flamed by quite a few on the forum last year when I complained about my $50 t-shirt. Most local car shows are $30 or so. We are working with a local charity car show in May and the cost is $20 plus a $10 un-wrapped toy for the Toys for Tots. Once again, I think FFR should be able to make a buck or two on the show. They have quite a few expenses including airfare and for the big rig to get here and back. But the Main Street vendors are there 364 other days of the year and I think their loyal customers deserve a discount more than us. That just my opinion.
Let's continue the dialog and see what we can do about working on extending the event into Sunday with a cruise or picnic etc.
Here is my suggestion. More of us, including Juliane and myself, get more involved with the weekends event to take some of the burden off of poor David Hodgkins and Dr. Karen.

It would be great if names could be printed on both sides of the FFR lanyard name tags. I really liked the idea of those tags but often they would be flipped around to the blank side so you couldn't see a person's name.

Here is one idea. Factory Five should encourage cars under construction. Many years ago I saw Dan Ziol's car under construction at Knots. It's what sold me. After all these are kit cars.
My car is going to be done next year I promise.
