I took the day off work, made my wife change her hair apointment and drove in crazy Orange county traffic so I could see some Factoy Five GTMs. So we get down there, find a place that we could pay to park, and make sure to grab the camera because I want to get lots of pictures of the great work these people have done.
THERE WAS ONE GTM!!! WHAT THE HELL? I saw pictures of at least four GTMs there two years ago. I figured there would be at least two more. Factory Five didn't even bring thier demo GTM. But they did bring an old Daytona coupe convertable thing, what ever those are called. Very,Very dissapointed. Everyone post all these pictures of thier hard work and great craftsmanship, but don't want to bring them out to the one big Factory Five show on the west coast. There was some rain in so Cal the night before, and it was a bit windy. So what! There were Cobras of several manufactures up and down Main Street.
I would like to hear from GTM owners of the west coast to know what's up.
When and where do you plan on driving your GTMs?

Welcome aboard. Perhaps some folks will see if they can ease your disappointment.
I hope you take some time to look around and get to know some folks. It's a pretty good bunch here!

Steve

WE had three races this weekend with the FFR Mendeola GTM. Sorry we could not be there.

Hey Motohead,
I had that same initial reaction but after about 15 minutes it went away as there were so many things going on. Too bad FFR didn't bring their GTM. I was expecting to see it, at least. I guess they just ran out of room with the all girl built roadster and the special edition 33. It's still on my bucket list to see a bunch of these super cars together and get a chance to meet some of the guys on the forum. WEK.

Wow... So sorry to disappoint you. There are times when you can make the shows and times when you can't. I'm sure if some of the GTM owners could have made it, they certainly would have.
I see that you are relatively new here... Many of the west coast GTM owners that could have potentially made it to the show this year, have been been to the show multiple times in years past. Not everyone goes to every show.
There may be a year or two before the next round of GTM builds are finished up and can be driven to the Huntington Beach Cruise In... Maybe they'll be there next year... Who knows?
I do know that I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the apologies that you seem to think you deserve, from those who have apparently disappointed you.
This forum is full of great people. Unless you were personally guaranteed by some of the GTM owners that they were going to show up, I don't see what has you so riled up.
Welcome to the Forum!

The spyder was not brought to the show by ffr, it was brought by a customer who had just picked it up from Gordon Levy the day before in Arizona.
I was also surprised by only one GTM but like others have said, it's often a crap shoot with these kinds of shows. I was there two years ago and there were 5 or 6, you just don't know.

Thanks guys. No apologies needed. Just was curious as to why nobody brought out these beautifull cars. I built a FFR Mark 3 roadster back in 2004 and I now have a Gen 1 GTM about 75% done. I was hoping to gather some finishing touches ideas. Sorry to come off like I was pissed off. Just bummed out in general. I will be there for sure next year with a pearl white GTM with black wheel.
I hope I can park next to at least 2 other GTM brothers, or sisters.
See you all next year, Tim Sharp

I still have it in mind to bring mine out next year. So if you're there, that will at least make two. Maybe by then others will have theirs finished and will bring them out also.

Another thing to remember, FFR has to accommodate as many obligations as possible when they bring their truck out West. This time they had to attend several events with the people from Hot Rod Magazine and the introduction of the limited edition and they brought out the women's build roadster (along with three of the builders) to the show. All of the cars on the plaza were customer owned cars (or chassis) this year as they wanted most of the attention on Main street.

I couldn't do it, but would have really liked to go. I haven't shown my car anywhere and am ashamed to say that I have less than 150 miles on it. The amount of garage time this car has is depressing to me. Life is challenging now (working Saturdays). Hopefully next year my situation will change and I can go.

It's a shame that it's so hard to get the time to drive these cars after we spend a thousand hours building them. Some how we should bring all of our calenders together and plan a nice drive for breakfast somewhere.
A few years ago I would meet my friends in Hemet on our street bikes at 7am on a Saturday or Sunday. We would have a great ride up to the mountains for breakfast and still be home to take care of the normal weekend grind.
When I get my car done I'm going to hunt all of you So Cal GTM owners down so we can have our own car show, on a day that works for everyone. So if your one of those guys, or gals, lets get our schedules together and make something happen. Don't make me hunt you down. These cars a way to beautifull to sit in a cold dark garage.
Idywild has a great little place called the Red Kettle that we had breakfast at. Little outside patio to watch the squirles play. I guess we could even invite some of our Roadster brothers and sisters too.
Talk to yall soon, Tim Sharp

I was ready to go and then a buddy called and asked if I wanted to ride in the back seat of his WWII warbird in a formation flying exhibition. When I woke up and it was raining I felt a little better about not going to HB. 3 hours of wet roads and traffic in LA. does nothing posative for a GTM.
Bad news is I got rained out of my plane ride too. I should have stayed and worked on my second GTM. 😝
My bucket list includes taking our car to FFRs open house. Now that would be cool! Unfortunately as with most cool things it's a little out of my price range right now. 😝

That would be awesome to have yours, Kempo's, Gary's, John's, and my car at the open house. Talk about checking off some bucket list items...
I hope to be able to make it. We'll see what happens.
