does my battery cable get hooked straight to the starter solenoid or does it go to the mini starter. I've heard that with newer mini starters that the battery cable goes directly to the starter. Can someone help with this? Maybe show me a pic of how its all hooked up?

Lucky…I don't have a mini starter but mine is wired as follows: Battery cable goes from rear of car to diver side firewall. There I have a "mega fuse" where the +12V battery cable on one side and the main battery lead to everything else. The fuse protects the wiring harness. From the same side as the battery cable I run another +12V cable to my starter rely. Other side of rely goes to starter. One side of the relay is HOT all the time. It's mounted on the PAX side of the firewall. I did have a mini starter once when I had EFI. On that set-up the I believe the +12V went first to the starter. A different wire went from the starter relay to a spade switch on the starter solenoid.

By the way, are you still going to Huntington Beach?

There is no need for a separate relay with a ministarter as the solenoid is on the stater. Battery cable can go straight from the battery to the starter, and the solenoid wire from the ignition switch connects to the solenoid on the starter.
